My first "green" post

“Our enormously productive economy … demands that we make consumption our way of life, that we convert the buying and use of goods into rituals, that we seek our spiritual satisfaction, our ego satisfaction, in consumption…. we need things consumed, burned up, replaced, and discarded at an ever-accelerating rate.” Victor Lebow, retailing analyst circa 1940's

I just watched a great short film (20 minutes) on the psychology of consumption, the exploitation of the Third World (like Africa!), and the destruction of our ecosystem. And in case, this sounds a bit too technical for you, there are stick figure illustrations along the way. (The drawings kept me hooked!)
